Full Review of ‘Anti-stress Thermal’ Yoga Retreat in Mallorca at FontSanta Hotel
By Mimi L. from UK. (Travelled in October 2022)
Location: Fontsanta Hotel Thermal Spa & Wellness, Mallorca, Spain
Organised by: Longevity Escapes
After a difficult couple of years mentally, emotionally, and physically; following the bereavement of a close family member and a divorce, alongside juggling a demanding job and the ongoing needs of 3 children, I was in desperate need of some stress relief and a reset. Accentuated by the onset of the menopause, I’d lost control of my diet, my exercise regime had gone out of the window and was feeling at an extremely low ebb that I was finding it difficult to navigate my way out of. With a few unexpected days off work approaching, I began my search for a health and wellbeing escape. With limited options available, due to very tight timeframes, there were few options left but Longevity Escape’s offering of a tailor-made thermal retreat to the FontSanta Hotel, following their BioAge Nutrition Programme, sounded like what I was looking for. This was my first time, on a wellness holiday as a solo traveller, and although excited, I embarked on my trip with an air of apprehension.
The Booking Process
Longevity Escapes handled all my bookings and was extremely efficient and professional, offering a very personalised service and answered my numerous questions with patience and understanding. They organised all aspects of my stay, from liaison with the hotel, to flight transfers, as well as organising the meals and well-being programme, meaning all I needed to do was pack my bags and go!
To ascertain my individual nutritional requirements, my journey began with an hour-long nutritional consultation with Sandra Diegues, the nutritionist at Longevity Escapes, where she gauged an understanding of my eating habits and lifestyle. This was very informative, giving lots of food for thought on how my diet could have had an impact on the way I was feeling.
The Transfer
Everyone knows how travelling can be a stressful experience but my journey with Longevity Escapes was a pleasure. My chaperone Cissy was there waiting for me at the baggage belt with a big smile and a helping hand. She insisted on carrying the luggage and would not entertain any effort from me. I was driven in an immaculate Mercedes equipped with waters, hand towels and a phone charger on offer.
The FontSanta Hotel
Driving up the long pathway, lined with olive trees, I was immediately taken in by the lure of the FontSanta Resort. Spacious, beautifully landscaped gardens, dotted with amazing sculptures give a feeling of serenity and harmony. The beautiful old country style buildings with understated tasteful, modern décor couldn’t fail to impress!
Service and Facilities
The wonderful team at FontSanta was always on hand and offered a highly personalised service. I was endlessly impressed by how they went out of their way to cater for my every need and make me feel at home during my stay.
The bedroom (a superior room with garden balcony) while smaller than expected was comfortable with a lovely patio overlooking the gardens, the perfect place to sit and relax after a day at the pool and take in the early evening sun. Although equipped with bathrobe, slippers, hairdryers and dispensers of fantastic L’Occitaine toiletries (which even managed to get through my thick wiry hair!), if I was to say one negative, it would be that the room was missing tea making facilities.
Within the grounds, there are two large swimming pools area surrounded by double sunbeds with kabanas. Little jacuzzi whirlpools are hidden away in the trees with individual sunbeds which was a lovely touch.
The Spa
The Spa facilities at FontSanta Hotel is truly fabulous, including the distinctive thermal pool with thermal waters from the saltwater springs surrounding the hotel. Guests have the choice between a steam room, a sauna and two relaxation rooms with either water beds or normal beds making it the perfect room to be in for a few hours. I was fortunate enough to have 2 massages included in my package and these did not disappoint! The first started with 15 minutes relaxation time in an individual 38-degree thermal bath in the spa, the second massage began in one of their outdoor thermal jacuzzis, followed by an outdoor massage, making both completely unique massage experiences.
Yoga and personal training
Longevity Escapes had booked daily yoga sessions for me which was a perfect way to begin each day. Both teachers were extremely passionate and tailored the sessions to my needs, as a beginner. I also opted for 2 personal training sessions (at an extra cost) which were fantastic. Each day was different, offering variety and challenge.
The restaurant / Food and Bio-Nutrition Experience
Breakfast was predefined for me in accordance with my nutritional requirements and did not disappoint, it was both nutritious and tasty. Dishes included crushed avocado and smoked salmon on gluten free bread, a Mediterranean omelette and poached eggs with sautée vegetables – all accompanied with a tasty, fresh salad. Each day I was also given a wholesome detox juice alongside my meal.
As I was on an individualised nutritional plan, I only did lunch once but was impressed with the wide range of healthy options on the menu. This included plenty of salads, woks and a choice of poke bowls with sushi or quinoa rice.
At lunchtime, and throughout the day, you can also get food (a slightly limited offering) and drink delivered directly to your sunbed via an easy ordering app. The menu offers a great selection of healthy smoothies, the banana and strawberry combination comes highly recommended! Prices weren’t cheap but to be expected from a hotel of this quality.
Will I Return?
I would not hesitate to recommend Longevity Escapes and The Fontsanta Hotel.
